Broadway, Meridian, Idaho Roll -call Attendance: X Blaine Johnston — Chair X Carol Harms — Vice Chair O Steve Turney arrived at 5:40pm X Dr. Frank Thomason O Dr. Tom Hammond X Joely Walters X Ex -Officio Councilman Joe Borton 2. Adoption of the Agenda: Motion made to adopt the agenda as presented by Dr. F. Thomason; seconded by J. Walters. All ayes — agenda adopted — No further discussion. Public Comment Period on the Proposed Draft City of Meridian Historic Preservation Plan: TAG was onsite to address public question. Jacy Jones testified that in her opinion the plan is comprehensive and will be a good working document to connect with the City Comprehensive Plan. No other public testimony was provided. Commissioners would like to leave the public comment period open to take accept additional input. Dr. F. Thomason motioned to keep the public comment period open until March 20, 201; seconded by J. Walters. All ayes — motion approved. J. Jones will collect and forward any public comments received. The next step is to approve the final plan and approve it by resolution at City Council level. 4. Approval of the Monthly Financial Statement: Motion made to approve the financial statement as presented by S. Turney; seconded by Dr. F. Thomason. All ayes — minutes approved — No further discussion. 5. Current City Applications (Review and Comment): No applications to discuss Meridian Historic Preservation Commission Meeting — March 13, 2014 Page 1 of 3 All materials presented at public meetings shall become property of the City of Meridian. Historical Society and History Center Update by Lila Hill: Lila Hill presented. A copy of the written report is on file. 7. Old Business a. Annual Report to Council Reminder: Report will be presented at 6:00 p.m. on March 18, 2014 b. Walking Tour Update and Launch: B. Johnston informed the Commission that the panel sign was presented to the subcommittee. Certain changes were requested. Jacy Jones provided a copy of the design of the brochures to the group to review and comment on. Update on Development Application Approval Requirements by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO): Item was vacated as the City does not have an active role in the process. It is a Federal Government level requirement. 8. New Business Discussion of Upcoming Projects for 2014 and Public Outreach a. Date and Time Selection for Preservation Month Event: The group discussed the May launch event and selected May 7 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. as the date and time for the launch. It was discussed that there is an Artist reception at the same time so attendance should be higher. The History Center should be open for the event. B. Johnston requested that name tags be ordered for the Commission to wear at the event. Copies of Dr. F. Thomason's Meridian could be handed out as door prizes. b. Public Outreach Planning: Jacy Jones presented plan to market the event. Facebook, newsletter, and City subscriptions will all include the information about the event.
