Turney; seconded by J. Walters. All ayes — agenda adopted — No further discussion. 3. Approval of the January 9, 2014 Meeting Minutes: Motion made to approve the minutes as presented by S. Turney, seconded by C. Harms. All ayes — minutes approved — No further discussion. 4. Approval of the Monthly Financial Statement: Motion made to approve the financial statement as presented by C. Harms; seconded by Dr. F. Thomason. All ayes — minutes approved — No further discussion. 5. Current City Applications (Review and Comment): No applications to discuss 6. Historical Society and History Center Update by Lila Hill: Lila Hill presented. A copy of the written report is on file. 7. Old Business a. Annual Report to Council Presentation Schedule: Annual report presentation to City Council is scheduled for March 18th at 6:00 p.m. Jacy Meridian Historic Preservation Commission Meeting — February 13, 2014 Page 1 of 3 All materials presented at public meetings shall become property of the City of Meridian. Jones will create a PowerPoint presentation and e-mail it to B. Johnston for review and edits prior to that date. b. Walking Tour Update: J. Jones presented an update to the group. Presented a draft copy of the Walking Tour Brochure. Commissioners will review the brochure and e-mail any suggested edits to J. Jones. 8. New Business Public Comment Period and Acceptance of the Historic Preservation Plan Draft and Approval of Notice and Publishing Dates: The group did not have any suggested changes to the document provided by TAG. The public hearing will be scheduled for March 13 at 5:30 p.m. during the regular Historic Preservation Commission meeting. J. Jones will prepare a notice and will publish it in the paper two times prior to the March 13th date. b. Discussion Regarding New Development Application Approval Requirements by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO): J. Jones presented e-mail from Engineering Solutions regarding the requirement from SHPO to require property surveys for development bordering a historic location. Requirement is not a State level requirement but is through the National Parks Service. Elizabeth Jacox from TAG provided comment that these types of requirements and not new and that TAG is often called upon to complete. J. Jones will send an e-mail to internal staff to update them. The issue is not a City concern but the City can educate new developers that they may expect to see this requirement from SHPO. 9. Discussion of Upcoming Projects for 2014 and Public Outreach a. Preservation Month Programming: The Commission brainstormed various ways to promote National Preservation Month. It was decided that this year the group would focus effort on the launch of the Walking Tour. A tentative date of May 7, 2014 was selected as the date to launch the tour. S. Turney motioned for a not -to -exceed amount of $100.00 to be spent on refreshments for the event seconded by Dr. F. Thomason. All ayes — motion approved. b. Public Outreach: J. Jones will provide a flier and other marketing materials for the March meeting to approve. 10. Next Meeting: Thursday, March 13, 2014 a.
