The existing irrigation drain ditch located within the proposed Howry Lane Subdivision will be retained
as an open ditch and utilized as a "Water Amenity," per the standards of Meridian UDC 11-1A-1. The
ditch runs diagonally through the site from southeast to northwest and is located within Blocks 2, 4, and
5. The drain ditch will be regraded to provide 4:1 max side slopes and a longitudinal grade of 0.38%. The
existing flow rate through the ditch was measured on September 12, 2016, and was determined to be
3.30 cfs. Based on the existing flow rate, the proposed ditch would have a max velocity of 2.22 ft/s and a
depth of 0.61-ft. The product of the flow velocity multiplied by the flow depth is 1.35, which is less than
the maximum value of 4 required by UDC 11-1A-1.
