Approval of Minutes: The Commission moved and approved the Minutes of the February 24, 2016 Meeting. 5. Old Business A. 2015 SWAC Annual Report; Presentation to City Council The Commission thanked Steve Cory for presenting the Annual Report. There were several Commissioners who attended and it was agreed that was a nice show of support for Steve. Next year the Commission wants to add a group photo at the beginning of the power point presentation to identify its members and also add more photographs of its Commission activities and projects. The Commission also wants to adopt an annual activity which can be showcased in the Annual Report each year. Supporting a booth (table) at the PW Expo seems logical starting point. Commissioner Pepin will report back on what recycling "swag" the PW Department might have that it could give to SWAC to hand out. Depending on the CRFP fund Solid Waste Advisory Commission Meeting — March 23, 2016. Page 1 of 1 balance; SWAC might be able to ask for City Council's approval to purchase more Meridian Recycles! bags to hand out. Scott Walters accepted the responsibility to chair a sub -committee to work on this project and they will report back. 6. New Business A. Residential Recycling Art Wrapped Mobile Collection Pilot Program The Commission agreed that it makes sense to launch this pilot project at the PW Expo as well. A lot of work will need to happen to get this approved by City Council before the June event. Scott Walters accepted adding it to the subcommittee's planning activities and will report back. Dave Fisher approved Rachele Klein to be a member of the subcommittee. Republic Services will donate the use of one 20 foot roll -off container to support the pilot program. It can have dividers to separate commodities (maybe start with plastic, cardboard, paper, aluminum). It will be painted/decorated somehow. The subcommittee will brainstorm possibilities (run a competition, etc). Not a lot of time between now and the PW Expo. Commissioner Pogue suggested having recycled paint (from landfill) available so that people who recycle can put their hand print on it to show their support. The subcommittee will work on all of the ideas and report back. Republic Services will look into logistics and costs of baled shipping vs. loose shipping and will report back. B. Strategic Solid Waste Plan -Planning Discussion The Commission wants to start with giving members a chance to read the Boise Strategic Plan. This matter will be brought back at the appropriate time for further consideration. 7. Next Meeting: April 27, 2016 8.
