Meridian Co-Op Gardeners Presentation to city FINALMeridian Co-Op Gardeners Moving Forward in 2015 1 5-13-15 The City of Meridian… A place to live, work play, AND… 5-13-15 2 GARDEN! 5-13-15 3 We are… 5-13-15 4 5-13-15 5 It’s all about community and gardening. 5-13-15 6 2014 Statistics 28 families (This was a 53% increase in the number of families participating from the previous year. 86% increase in total number of people within the families. 13 members from last year have remained participants for 2015. 5-13-15 7 2014 Highlights 1300 + volunteer hours Grew numerous vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Eagle Scout Raised Beds utilized Donated over 3800 pounds to the Meridian Food Bank Education of young people 5-13-15 8 Meridian Food Bank Weekly Donations 5-13-15 9 2015 Goals: To create and sustain naturally grown produce for the purpose of providing healthy food to our participants and those in need. 5-13-15 10 To paint and maintain our shed in the maintenance yard. 5-13-15 11 To better manage our water use. 5-13-15 12 To explore composting with the city and ways to amend the soil. 5-13-15 13 To build new and existing partnerships.
