Heroes Park Partnership
The partnership with MP&R allows MPAL to enjoy the value and benefits of having home fields for our soccer and basketball programs
5
Heroes Park
Heroes Park provides ample playing space for our 1,500 soccer players each fall and spring
The basketball courts are some of the best around and the community loves them too
The value
of our relationship with MP&R and Heroes Park has enabled MPAL to provide more opportunities for MPAL Flag Football, Baseball, and Tackle Football to flourish at other parks and locations
6
Heroes Park Partnership
MPAL’s commitment to contribute approximately 1/3 ($653,000) of the initial building cost is mutually beneficial
During Heroes Park phases I & II MPAL contributed $328,000
In Phase
III Sept. 2010 MPAL agreed to pay $10 from each registration to contribute the remaining $325,000
7
Heroes Park Partnership
Projecting 3,200 players annually it will take approximately 10 years to fulfill the final contribution
We have accelerated the contribution from $10/player to 17.50/player
We have also
contributed additional good faith payments
It has been our goal to accelerate the payoff to approximately 5 years.
We are on track to reach our goal by Sept. 2015
8
Heroes Park
Meridian PAL and programs like us need places for our kids to learn and grow
Heroes Park affords MPAL opportunities we would not otherwise enjoy
Partnerships like Heroes Park help keep
youth sports affordable and aids MPAL in our mission to get youth involved in positive activities
Again, Thank you for your support and partnership. We look forward to future opportunities
to positively impact our community
9
Other Park Facilities
MPAL Baseball utilizes the baseball complex at Heritage Middle School
More than 900 kids are able to enjoy this complex
Without this facility MPAL would likely lose the ability to provide
a quality program for our youth
10
Settlers Park
Settlers Park has been the home of MPAL Flag Football since 2005
Today more than 1,600 kids play flag football there each year
And many teams utilize the park amenities for parties,
gatherings, and practice
MPAL demonstrated our appreciation with a $5,000 contribution to the new parking lot near the baseball complex
11
MPAL Future Opportunities
MPAL Soccer will be hosting a Kohl’s Cup Tournament this Fall
This is the first time the Kohl’s Cup will be hosted in Meridian
The Kohl’s Cup is a valuable opportunity for MPAL and Meridian
due to the high level of community involvement
The tournament will bring teams from across the valley and enable MPAL and MP&R to showcase Heroes Park and its wonderful facilities
12
Conclusion
The partnership between MPAL & MP&R greatly benefits the youth of Meridian
MPAL programs assists Meridian Police Department and the city in achieving a positive relationship between
law enforcement and the community
We look forward to continuing a strong partnership and helping to build a better community
Thank You!
