The Treasure Valley Commonwealth is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization whose
mission is to facilitate the education and cooperative learning of families by
providing and creating an environment for sharing space, time, talents, and
resources.
This past spring we taught twenty 13-18 year old students a course entitled "Shakespeare
Conquest". It is a two-hour weekly course by Leadership Education Mentoring Institute.
Our mentors attended training last summer to teach the class. The first semester we read
and discuss a tragedy. The second semester we go through actor's training and prepare
to perform a comedy. The class covers acting, costuming, lighting, history, writing, public
speaking, spelling, vocabulary and reading.
Training helped me as a mother and mentor to better understand how to direct a play as
well as train students in the subject of Shakespeare.
In addition to directing and producing an annual Shakespeare play, we would like to
continue to bring the program "Shakesperience", directed by the Idaho Shakespeare
Festival, to our non-profit each year. We are also involved with Missoula Children's
Theater, a production company that travels to different locations. In one week, they
guide children in workshops and team building in order to perform and direct a play. It's
a lot of fun and a great experience for the kids. We would love your support and help
to continue to bring these exciting opportunities to Meridian.
We are asking for $2,000 to help with the production of "Taming of the Shrew" next
month in May and also bringing the above-mentioned experiences to our community.
With this we would offer you shared sponsorship with TVC, a full page advertisement in
our playbill, an on stage shout out at every performance, logos on our flyers and 20
tickets to Taming of the Shrew which will be held at the Borah Little Theater on May 20-
21st.
