Meridian I Commission
DECEMBER • STAFF REPORT
Thursday, January 14, 2016 • 3:30 p.m.
City Council Chambers — Meridian City Hall • 33 East Broadway Ave., Meridian, Idaho
Annual Update to City Council
• MAC must be scheduled for the annual update to City Council. They have availability on
February 9th and March 8`h. All members of MAC are welcome to attend, if available!
(These are 3:00 p.m. meetings.)
MAC 2015 Annual Report PowerPoint Draft
• The PowerPoint Draft associated with the annual report is attached to this admin
report. You are welcome to view this draft, and send comments, as I work with Mary to
refine or edit it as needed.
o If you have more pictures either of yourselves or of MAC events that you'd like
to include feel free to send those to me.
• This PowerPoint supplements the annual report as Mary presents to City Council
Artwork Donations
Richard Herdegen — Mosaic
o Need to offer Richard Herdegen an agreement to accept his donation. Emily
Kane has worked on a draft of this agreement but it has not been sent out yet.
Mary McPherson Elementary — Large format cloth painting
o Ellen volunteered to help with this piece. She or I can update the commission
once it has been completed and place.
Initial Point Gallery
• Current exhibit: Reba Robinson and Michael Rusnack
• Next exhibit: Idaho PTA Reflections Program
o Install on February 5`h @ 9:15 a.m. if you'd like to join!
o Reception is Tuesday, February 9th from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
MAPS and Public Art Planning
• I'd like each of the commissioners to start thinking about what kind of public art
projects you'd like to tackle in the next five years. MAC should develop a plan so that
this can be used, in advance, to support efforts in writing grant requests, sourcing out
community partners/funders, and planning projects based on scale and level of effort to
complete. The shortest timeline in which a public artwork can go through our process
and be installed is about 18 months.
