COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT
CONCERNING
HISTORICAL OR GEOLOGICAL SITES
This AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 4th day
of June 19 62, by and between the State of Idaho,
Department of Highways, party of the first part, and the 33MXIWCity
of Meridian, Idaho, party of the second part.
This AGREEMENT covers the installation of the "Initial
Point" Historical sign by the State of Idaho, Department of
Highways on City property within the S.E. quadrant of the inter-
section of U. S. 30 - Cottonwood Avenue and East let Street in the
city
VU146e of Meridian and the maintenance of the City park property
and City streets by the party of the second part.
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, The Director of the Idaho Historical Society
has determined the above named site to be of major historical
importance; and,.
WHEREAS, The Director of the Idaho Historical Society
or other interested party or parties has requested the State of
Idaho, Department of Highways to install an appropriate Historical
Sign at or near the connection of U. S. Highway 30 and State
Highway 69; and,
WHEREAS, The location of the Historical Sign, the access
road leading to the sign and the intersection of the access road
with the highway are as indicated on the exhibit attached hereto
and made a part hereof.
NOW THEREFORE: In consideration of the premises
hereinafter set forth, the State of Idaho, Department of Highways,
party of the first part, and the party of the second part do hereby
mutually agree as follows:
1. The State of Idaho, Department of Highways will
furnish, install, and maintain an appropriate Historical sign on
the City Park property off the State Highway right-of-way. The

sign will be installed in accordance with the Department's
"Policy on Signing Roadside Parks, Tables, View Points,
Historical, Geological, and Other Beanie Points of Interest,"
2. The State of Idaho, Department of Highways will
furnish, install, and maintain appropriate signs on U. S. Highway
30 to direct interested motorists off the highway and to the
Historical Sign location.
3. The party of the second part does hereby grant
permission to the party of the first part to install and maintain
said "Initial.Point" Historical Sign on City property.
4. The party of the second part will, adequately maintain
the access road indicated on the attached Exhibit from the State
Highway to the Historical Sign.
5, The party of the second part will maintain the
property on which the Historical Sign is placed.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF: The'partie s have hereunto set
their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
