Holman Support Services Director City of Meridian jholman@meridiancity.org (208) 888-4433 From: Mike Wardle [mailto:mwardle@brightoncorp.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 31, 2016 4:18 PM To: Sonya Watters Cc: Bill Nary; Jaycee Holman; Terri Ricks; Dale Ann Barton (dbarton@adaweb.net); David Turnbull; Jon Wardle; Van Elg Subject: TM Crossing Street Naming Sonya, Street naming—specifically, use of the in-alignment Verbena Street name through TM Crossing—has apparently not been formally addressed even though it was the point of specific discussion at both the Meridian P&Z Commission and City Council hearings of August 16 th and September 18, 2012, respectively. Thus, I am providing the following “evidence” to support our belief that an alternative to the name, Verbena, was approved by the actions of both hearing entities, although not by a specific statement. P&Z Commission. Attachment 1 - Hearing Minutes pages 30-32, and 35 are highlighted to show the specific discussion of the issue (pgs.31-32) and action (p.35). - There is no direct reference to approval in the Commission’s action but it is assumed by implication of approval language. City Council. Attachment 2 – Hearing Minutes pages 33-34, and 41-44 are also highlighted to reference David Turnbull’s request (p.34) for “a waiver of that [Verbena name requirement] and have it tentatively approved the name of Perdham [Purdam] for that street and we would ask for the City Council’s concurrence on that.” - City Council motions for the three approval actions (pgs.41-44) contain the statement, “to include all staff, applicant and public testimony.” Thus, by implication of the motion language, approval of an alternative street name to Verbena is assumed. THEREFORE, WE REQUEST . . . - That, based on the foregoing, the City notify the Ada County Street Naming Committee that an alternative to Verbena was considered and approved by the Council’s September 18, 2012 action; 2 OR - That the matter be formally brought before the Council at its June 7, 2016, hearing of the TM Crossing DA Mod hearing as proposed by the fifth of 5 slides in the 3 rd attachment.
