A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE AUTHORIZATION OF
THE "PENNIES FOR PARKS PROGRAM"; AUTHORIZING
THE MUNICIPAL UTILITY BILLING SERVICES TO PROVIDE
NOTICE ON OR AFTER OCTOBER 1, 1999, TOGETHER WITH
UTILITY BILLING; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
ACCOUNTING AND DESIGNATION OF MONIES COLLECTED
TO BE USED FOR PARKS AND RECREATION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, IDAHO:
SECTION 1: There is hereby created a program for the voluntary raising
of revenue for the City Parks Department to be known and designated as
the "Pennies for Parks Program" ; and
SECTION 2: The Municipal Utility Billing Service of the City is hereby
authorized to prepare a notice, subject to approval of the City Council to
be included in the utility billing of the City, commencing on or after the
1st of October, 1999; and
SECTION 3: The City Council, by this action, does hereby create the
"Pennies for Parks Program" and it is herein provided that any utility
user who voluntarily rounds up their remittance and indicates on any
utility billing, a contribution to the program, the City will apply the
amount of the overpayment to the Parks and Recreation Department; and
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, SETTING FORTH
CERTAIN FINDINGS AND PURPOSES, AUTHORIZING THE
"PENNIES FOR PARKS PROGRAM"
SECTION 4: The Municipal Utility Billing Service is to account to the
City Treasurer for all funds received from remittances from Utility
Billings received pursuant to the "Pennies for Parks Program"', and the
Treasurer shall apply said funds to the appropriate account denoting the
"Pennies for Parks Program" as determined by the City Treasurer and the
same shall be considered by the City Council for budgetary purposes of
the Parks and Recreation Department.
