Winston Moore managing partner of Blue Marlin Investments, owner of CentrePoint
Market Place, is requesting a two-year extension to obtain the City Engineer's signature on
the final plat for the above referenced subdivision.
The final plat was originally approved in 2007 and we certainly did not envision asking for
time extensions as the retail market was robust. However, shortly after approval several
events occurred that hindered attracting retailers to CentrePoint Market Place. First, the
economic down tum starting in 2008 followed by development of The Village at Meridian
that depleted the market of the type of retailers CentrePoint would generally attract.
We do not see The Village as a permanent road block to attracting retailers to CentrePoint
but one that makes it more challenging. Having said that we are seeing increasing interest
in our project. Hence, the reason for a time extension that will allow us to move quickly
as opposed to beginning the lengthy process of starting with a new preliminary and final
plat. Often times prospective retailers have a short time horizon and we do not want to be
at a disadvantage.
