RE: Western Ada Recreation District - Meridian Outdoor Pool
Design and Use Narrative
There is an existing building built in 1971 that is in need of modernization to bring it up to code. The plan
is demolish the building and build a new one its place that will be the some footprint. A second story will
be added to give room for party rooms and office space. The smaller pool will also be demolished and
new activity pool will be added to comply with accessibility requirements.
The building has been designed with a prominent front entrance that leads the user from the parking lot
into the building where they enter into a lobby. The facades are broken by change in material and
color.
The building is comprised of three masses that are shifted to give variety to the exterior of the building.
The roofs lines accentuate the masses with pitched roofs on the outside forms and a sloped -to -drain roof
on the central form. The mechanical units are located on the central form and screened with the some
material as the guardrails on the entrance and the outside upper deck.
There are canopies on the front and back of the building. It is a steel structure with a polyvinyl mesh to
provide shade. The canopy structure is designed for three reasons. First, it brings the two story building
down to human scale as the users approach the building. Second, it adds another material to the
building to give variety and interest. Third, the structure accentuates the areas in which user interaction
happens with the building.

Emergency Battery Operation
The emergency battery backup (ELCW option) a integral to the luminaire - no external housing requienal This design
provides reliable emergency operation while maintaining the aesthetics of the produce
All aCW configurations include an Independent secondary driver with an integral relay to immediately detect
AC power loss. Dual light engines are wired in parallel so both engines operate in emergency made and provide
additional component redundancy. These design features meet various interpretations of NFPA 70/NEG 2008 -
700.16
The emergency battery will power the luminaire for a minimum duration of 90 minutes (maximum duration of three
hours) from the time supply power is last, per International Building Code Section 1 We and NFPA 101 Life Safety
Code Seaton 7.9, provided luminaires are mounted at an appropriate height and illuminate an open space with no
major obstructions.
The examples below show illuminance of 1 N average and Of fc minimum of the single-engine Type IV product in
emergency, mode.

FEATURES & SPECIFICATIONS
INTENDED USE
The dasaic adlitecumi shape ofthr WST LED was designed for aphileamans such as hospitals,
schools, malls, restaurants, and commercial buildings. The long life IED, and diner make this
luminaire nearly maintenance -free.
CONSTRUCTION
The single -piece die-cast aluminum housing integrates secondary heat sinks to optimize thermal
tansferfrom the Internal light engine hasI sinks and promote long Ife_ The driver is mounLed In
direct contact with the casting for a low operating temperature and long life. The die CnaL door
fame is fully Basketed with a one-piece solid silicone gasket to keep out moisture and dust,
providing an IP65 rating for the luminaire.
FINISH
Exterior parts on protected by a zinc -infused Super Durable TGIC thermoset powder .at finish
that provides superior resistance to corrosion and weathering. A tightly controlled multi -nage
process ensures a minimum 3 mils thickness for a finish that can withstand extreme climate
changes without cracking or peel l ng. Standard Super Durable colors include dark bronze, El ad
natual aluminum, sandstone and white- Available in textured and non -textured finishes.
OPTICS
Precision -molded acrylic lenses are engineered for superior distribution, uniformity, and spacing
In wall -mount appllcahnns. Light engines are 4000K (70 CRI). The WST LED has to up light and
qualifies as a Nighttime Friendly- product, meaning it is corwarent with the LEER® and Green
Globesr" criteria for eliminating wasteful ,plight.
ELECTRICAL
Light engines) consist of 10 high -efficacy LEDs mounted to i metal no chart board and
integral aluminum heat sinks to maximize heat dissipation and promote long life (100,000
hos at 2YC, L77)- Class 2 electronic driver has a power factor >90%, THD <20%. Easily-
smsearble surge protection device meets a minimum Category B (per ANSILEEF 06241 2)
INSTALLATION
Auniversal mounting plate with integral mounting support arms allows the Uature to hinge
down for easy access while making wiring connections.
