Subject: Edgehill subdivision
The engineer for Edgehill Subdivision informed us at a meeting earlier in the year that ACHD was
requiring them to allow for a roundabout at the intersection of Linder and Victory roads. In view of the
proximity of three homes and an extensive irrigation distribution system at that intersection, it seems
highly inappropriate to place a roundabout at that intersection. There seems to be a pattern of
catering to developers regardless of the consequences to other's property rights and well-being.
Before approval for a subdivision is given, it would only seem fair and proper that the developer be
required to, without disrupting the lives and property rights of others, provide for whatever
infrastructure needs are precipitated by that subdivision at the developer's expense, without the
disruption that would occur if a roundabout is to be installed to accommodate the needs of that
subdivision. Surely there are better options than placing a roundabout at the intersection of Linder
and Victory roads.
Sincerely,
Steven Mortensen

To Mayor of Meridian, ACHD, and the Commissioners of
208.880.9518 Meridian
RockinbRanch1992@msn.com
We have been informed that a round -a -bout is possibly under
your consideration for the corner of South Victory and Linder.
We have visited ACHD and were given a map of the future
consideration. The first visit to ACHD we were told it was not
in the five year plan; the second visit we were told it was in
the twelve year plan because the traffic pattern did not
support a five year decision. Today Kent Goldthorp returned a
call to our neighbor, Cindy Bird, saying that it isn't even in the
20 year radar.
If you take a look at the ACHD map, which we have a copy of,
the round -a -bout takes out the front part of our home. Given
the fact that this 1951 home (OUR HOME, bought and paid
for, is completely renovated to the tune of over one hundred
thousand dollars) we find your vision of the future a bit
perturbing to say the least.
At a recent visit to the commissioners city meeting we were
told that "this is progress, we have to accept the city's vision,
and it was for the good of the City of Meridian". Really? To
make matters worse, now that your vision is public
knowledge, I have to disclose it should I attempt to sell my
land.
This letter is to notify you that we oppose a round -a -bout on
any land that is occupied, especially ours.
Our immediate questions to you are these:
1- What is your criteria in making a decision on putting
round -a -bouts, traffic lights, or turn lanes in areas that are
already occupied with homes? Is it number of houses or
number of cars?
2- Prior to granting a new subdivision (Linder and
Victory) did you give consideration to placing the rounda-
bout in the land that in uninhabited (Edgehill) rather than
move homes?
A response would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Home Owners

My name is Cindy Bird. My husband, Ed and I live at 1570 West Victory Road in Meridian on the NE
corner of Victory and Linder.
Across from us (South), they are building a new sub -division ( Edgehill ). They have expressed that
there may be a round -about at our intersection, in the future.
We want to go on record that we oppose this future round -about.
We have lived here for twenty-four years and are concerned about losing our land and or our home.
We have two other neighbors at our intersection. All of our land(s) and our homes may be affected by a
round -about.
We ask that a traffic light be considered instead or keep our four stop signs.
We have wondered if the round -about that they had considered for Victory and Linder — could be
positioned at Ten Mile and Victory instead?
We hear that, in the future, they are planning a round -about at Amity and Ten Mile. Would they
consider Amity and Linder instead?
Also, we would like to know if Linder Road is being widened from Victory to Overland and if so which
side will be affected — East or West?
We have heard that things are not as simple as it sounds. But for us and our neighbors, this is our
home and where our hearts are!
We have raised our daughter here and enjoyed our grandchildren and our parents here.
We hope to find a solution that lets us keep our home and our neighbors too.
Thank you,
Ed & Cindy Bird
