CITY OF C Ii i pi rr
CITY CLERKS OFFICE
Thank you for presenting the currently proposed changes to the Uniform
Development Code (UDC) for the City of Meridian. We truly appreciate being
included in the process to discuss these proposed changes. After reviewing the
latest version, we have the following comments:
1. We appreciate and support most of the changes. In particular, the changes to
the minimum lot standards within each residential zone are important to
help new development achieve the currently intended densities as defined in
the City's Future Land Use Map. In many instances applicants will no longer
need to request a higher zone on a parcel to achieve acceptable lot sizes, etc.,
that enable the desired densities.
2. 11-3A-7A.7 a. - We are still gathering input from our members, however
some members have expressed a concern that this section reads to require a
developer to install a fence on all common lots. In some instances, such as
adjacent to a park, some buyers like to not have a fence and be open to the
park. The proposed change will eliminate this preference.
3. 11-313-813.2 - This change requires landscaping to be installed (and
maintained) in the right-of-way regardless if there is a road -widening project
in less than 5 years. This will result in wasted cost, especially when the road
is widened in the near future.
We look forward to your response and assistance with the items above. We
sincerely thank you again for your efforts and for the cooperative relationship we
have with the City of Meridian.

Jon Kastings, President
