Re: Public Hearing May21, 2015 for application on AZ15-003
To Whom It May Concern:
I live at 4272 S Tindaris Ave, Meridian, Idaho in the Napoli subdivision. The proposed annexation and
subsequent subdivison is directly behind my property. I bought this property because there weren't any
houses directly behind me and we had a view of the mountains.
I'm not registering a complaint but rather need to make sure that the developers and the City are aware
of a drainage issue. When this house at 4272 S Tindaris was built, they put in a lot of fill dirt. The
fence behind my property is 6'h feet high and the bottom of it is flush with the ground on the land
proposed for development. On my side of the fence there are railroad ties two feet deep which the top
is level with my lawn. The lawn is slanted for drain purposes toward the proposed development. There
are also 3 inch pipes in the lawn for drainage that come out of the railroad ties and drain between the
fence and the ties into the existing drainage ditch. If this isn't addressed when building begins there
could be substantial flooding on any property placed directly behind mine. At the north border and
south border of my property on the other side of the fence are two large drains for the water to flow
into from the ditch behind all the properties on Tindaris. The proposed land was used for hay ground
and irrigated for two to three crops a year so the need for the drains. One solution may be to place
another fence five feet from the existing one and leave the ditch and have the houses near there drain
into that existing ditch.
On another issue, I am on the board for the Napoli subdivision. We receive our irrigation water from
the creek that runs along side Zaldia to the north of Napoli. This water goes into a pond at Kingsbridge
and then we have a separate pump that pumps the water to Napoli for our irrigation purposes. When
this proposed subdivision is developed it would be interesting to know where their irrigation water is to
come from. If they use this same source, we would hope this would not hinder our current operation
with Kingsbridge. If that is the case, perhaps they could offer us a better solution for irrigation water.
Thank you for considering my concerns.
Sincerely,
