HomeMy WebLinkAboutPublic Testimony by Bob & Gail Bacon CCMay 5, 2014 To Meridian City Council Members: We are writing to you because we will be out of town for the May 21St hearing in which you will be reviewing and considering the applications by Oak Leaf Development Company. This will include the building of six (6) single residential lots and two (2) common lots in SpurWing Greens. We are not opposed to the construction of six residential lots, but we are against a pool amenity. Why are we against the addition of a pool in SpurWing Greens? We already have access to a large, beautiful pool at SpurWing Country Club. It has lifeguards, food and beverage service, security, and well-maintained lockers and restrooms. Homeowners pay for these amenities through our HOA dues as Life Style Members. Why would we want to pay additional HOA dues for a pool that is not needed? According to Justin Lucas, City of Meridian Planner, the pool is a "done deal." We are concerned that this "done deal" has been established without any input from the SpurWing Green homeowners. Since we are the ones who will have to support the pool, liability insurance, its security, its maintenance, and the maintenance of the restrooms through our HOA dues, it should only be fair that you consider our input. We are also concerned about the easy access to the pool itself, since there will be no one on duty during times of operation. If access is achieved through a key card or number, it would be very easy to share this information with people who are non-residents. We hope you will seriously consider surveying the SpurWing Green residents so that you will know if a pool is desired or not. It is an important issue, one that we hope will not be railroaded through the system. If the majority of the homeowners wants the pool, then we will accept and respect the majority's wishes.
