Hello All,
Please consider this email and the one composed by Chris Webb of JUB Engineers for comments on the
Kennedy Commercial MDA.
I have researched the available drawings of the sewer mains, per Chris's email below. They are all
construction drawings, not as-builts. These construction drawings show that all of the sewer mains of concern
(circled in red below) were specified to be constructed at or above the minimum slope of 0.4%.
Per City MDA policy, the developer is not required to submit water line and sewer line sizing and
location. Without this information, modeling this addition of flow to the City sewer system becomes
imprecise. I have added this estimated flow to the model, in an arbitrary location within the Kennedy
Commercial land area for WWTP flow accounting. The sewer trunks within the City (10"diameter and larger)
show sufficient capacity at this time.
The following items are left to the responsibility of the developer to field verify, per the land use:
*The capacity available at the "Western Electronics Lift Station," (and as a result, the capacity in the pressure
sewer line to Overland Rd.)
*The capacity available (line slope) in any of the 8" sewer mains that will be utilized by the Kennedy
Commercial property
Respectfully,

I found and attached the summary of the analysis I did on this back in September. I don't know the reason for the 80
gpm limit for sure, but I'm guessing it had to do with the downstream capacity concerns in the Ten Mile Trunk. When
Western Electronics was put in, the Victory Connector had not been built, and I don't think the Black Cat Trunk was
finished so Bear Creek was still pumping into the Ten Mile Trunk. Since these areas now both go to the South Black Cat
LS, the Ten Mile Trunk no longer has the immediate capacity concerns.
This new plan looks like it includes a very high density residential component. The downstream 18-inch trunk should still
be fine as discussed in the attached email, but we should probably look a little closer at the 8-inch gravity lines and the
existing lift station. My guess is that the 8-inch lines are okay unless something is below minimum slope (0.4%), but the
lift station may need upgraded.
Would you like me to revise my analysis using the new development? If so, it would be helpful to get record drawings
on the existing lift station and the 8-inch lines circled on the attached screen shot.

Chris,
We recently had a MDA plat application come through for a commercial and "class A"high density community,
under the name Kennedy Commercial. Bruce Freckleton reminded us that there is a small lift station in the
plat area. He couldn't remember if it had enough capacity (because the area was once limited to an 80 gpm
flow), or if there had been a relief added to the system. Do you remember the background information on this
area?
