Broadway Avenue, Suite 300 Meridian, ID 83G42 Phone: (208) $88-4433 RE: Three Corners Subdivision Street Names Mayor de Weerd and City Council We are the owners of the property which will be developed into Tht•ee Cornel•s Subdivision. 13y way of background, we have lived. in Meridian since 1981 and we have owned the property that we are dwe[oping since l 9~6. We are not developers by trade, we came to the decision to develop this property ourselves because we wanted to develop it in a way That does not fetch top dollar, but in our mind offers the amenities that made us want to move to Meridian 33 years ago. Our children grew up on a 10 acre parcel of property and later on a 2 acre parcel of property adjacent to the land we are no~v developing. They grew up riding horses and 4 wheelers and building forts with kids front neighboring subdivfsions on acres of land. It is a positive thing that Meridian leas grown, developed and became less rtu•al. But as with any positive change, there comes a sacrii-ice. In our opinion, one of the sacrifices that we are making rs t11at our grandchildren will not grow up riding horses and 4 wheelers and building forts with kids from neighboring subdivisions on acres of land. Nevertheless, we aim to create a neighborhood that pays homage to Meridian's rural past and retains a bit of that rural feel. It is within this conte,ct that every decision with regard to this subdivision llas been made, including lot size, ~vai!<ing trails, green space, neighborhood finishes, road placement; arld road names. The names East Thrae Corners Dt7ve, East `l'ownline Way, North Sweet Valley Avenue, East Golden Oak Court reference the driving force behind our decision to develop this property ourselves and to make decisions based on a desire to retain a rural feel. Beyond the fact that the street naming committee's names are not consisterlt with tlae spirit of the neighborhood, there is also a potential for confusion. Schubert and Chopin are part of a neighborhood in which every street is named afiel• composers. This will create confusion with reference to Three Corners and may mislead people to believe a Name or tot is part of Vienna Woods Subdivision rather than Three Corners. The same goes for Tallinn and Lockhart with reference to the Hightower subdivision. Additionally, none of the streets tivill ever connect: a. Lockhart and Tallinn are streets located in }-Iightower subdivision, approximately .545 miles and .561 miles from Three Corners (see below). In between Lockhart/Tallinn and Three Corner:5 lies: 1) Saguaro Hills Drive, which runs perpendicular to the Lockhart and Tallinn is lined with houses on both sides, 2) Jericho Road which runs perpendicular to the LockharC and Tallinn and is tined with houses on one side, 3) Valley Life Community Church, ~1) Central Academy, 5) Locust Grove Load and b) Ambrose School. --. .,, ,. ~~ ra. r = ~e~ ,w is x ~ r co- z m 1 f ~ lXU'F F.DI .33 ''G dl f.[+ll.i t~ b. Chopin and Shubert are located in Vienna Woods Subdivision, approximately .283 miles and .373 miles from Three Corners (see below). In between Chapin/Schubert and Three Corners Iles Dunwoody Court which runs petpendicular to Chopin at~d Shubert and is lines with homes on each side. ::; ~:~: ,i+. ,4~. ~i._u ~ :e Because the streets will never connect, it creates confusion when people are trying to tmd addresses to have streets With the same names but separate entrances that are .341 miles or .492 miles apart in the case of LoclcharilTallinn (depending on which entrance you use) and approximately .576 miles apart in the case of Schubert/Chopm. And, this is just measuring from entrance to entrance. The streets themselves are much further apart in terms of driving distance. As to the meandering street, which we have proposed be named '7"hree C_..orners, there are only two homes that will have the Three Corners Drive address. There will be no homes on the east-west portion of Three Corners Drive. [t is only when the Drive curves to the south and you enter the residential portion that there are homes. We would like the Drive coming from I.,ocust Grove into the residential neighborhood to bear the name of tl~e subdivision.
