HomeMy WebLinkAboutContract for Services with Stevens and Sons Well Drilling for testing and drilling Well 22Exploratory Test-Well #22 CONTRACT This Contract, made and entered this 23`d day of March , 2001, by and between the City of Meridian, Idaho, hereinafter called the "Owner", and Stevens and Sons Well Drilling, Inc., 2794 Greenwood Circle, Boise, Idaho 83706 herein after called the "Contractor". WITNESSETH: The Contractor, in consideration of the sum to be paid him by the Owner and of the covenants and agreements herein contained, hereby agrees at his own proper cost and expense to complete drilling of the test well at Well Site No.22 on property leased by the Owner to the extent of the Bid made by the Contractor dated this 23`d Day of March ,2001, all in full, compliance with the Contract Documents referred to herein. The BIDDING REQUIREMENTS, including the signed copy of the BID, the CONTRACT FORMS, and the SPECIFICATIONS, are hereby referred to and by reference made a part of this Contract as fully and completely as if the same were fully set forth herein and are mutually cooperative therewith. In consideration of the performance of the work as set forth in there Contract Documents the Owner agrees to pay to the Contractor on a unit price basis as listed in Exhibit "A", not to exceed a total contract price of $24,900.00, or as otherwise herein provided, and to make such payment at the completion of the drilling work and acceptance thereof by the City of Meridian. The Contractor agrees to complete the work within the time specified herein and to accept as full payment hereunder the amounts computed as determined by the measured unit items of work at the unit priced bid. It is agreed that the work as specified in the Contract Documents, shall be complete, within forty-five (45) days after the date of this Contract. The exact location of the bore will be staked in the field by the City of Meridian, or its authorized representative. Approximately 40-feet of 8-inch diameter temporary casing will bedrilled-and-driven through the surficial floodplain river cobbles. An 8-inch diameter. bore will be advanced to approximately 750 feet below land surface using the. direct mud-rotary drilling method. The total depth of the bore will be determined on site by the City's hydrogeologist during the drilling process and may be more or less than 750 feet dependant on the drilled geologic section. 2. Sampling The Contractor will obtain continuous representative samples from the drilled geologic section and package the same in heavy duty freezer-type zip-lock bags at 5-foot 'intervals and at lithology changes. The sample bags will be clearly Tabled using permanent waterproof marker as to depth. 3. Geophysical logging. After the borehole has been drilled to total depth, the Contractor shall remove the drill stem from the bore and maintain the hole in an "open" condition to facilitate geophysical logging of the entire length of the bore. 4. Abandonment. Upon completion of the geophysical logging, the Contractor will again advance the drilling steel to the total drilled depth, and abandon the well by pumping high solids bentonite grout, from-the-bottom-up, until the hole is completely filed with grout. After the hole is completely filled with grout, the temporary 8-inch casing will be pulled back and the uncased hole kept filled with grout.
