0.5 per cent, maximum 4 per cent.
3. Drainage to be installed from back of greens to low side of fairway.
4. Trenches should be no deeper than necessary for drainage fall and
should be 8 inches in depth and width.
S. Excess top soil from excavation may be spread on adjacent banks and
approaches. Excess subsoil from excavations for drain trenches is to
be spread over subgrade to create a crown between lines or may be
removed from site.

Shape and contour to green detail.
11. Apply Milorganite at rates specified. Spread uniformly over green
surface.
]2. After inspection and approval of rg eens by Owner, apply seed material
and rake in. DO NOT seed until irrigation water is available at each
green.

]3. Greens are to be kept moist at all times once watering starts. Greens
shall be mowed where grass is 1/2" to 3/4" tall. Mower height is to be
1/2"•
14. Retain and protect all underground sprinklers and sprinkler piping.
15. Seeding of green embankments and approaches shall be with the same seed
mixture as the fairways. These areas shall be seeded 40 feet from the
greens in all directions and before watering of the greens begins.

Installation of Subsurface system
Typically, the system.consists of 15- to 20- foot
lateral spacing of drain lines.in herringbone arrangement.
The drain lines are 4 inches in diameter and of flexible
corrugated drain pipe. The plastic drains have gained
wide acceptance due to their ease of installation and
comparatively low cost. The collection pipe is PVC drain.
The first phase in installation involves siting,
surveying and staking of drainage lines, and proper labeling
for desired depth of cut. The trench should be no deeper
than is necessary to achieve the needed slope for proper
drainage. The suggested minimum fall is 0.5 percent; the
range is up to 3 or 4 percent. The, trench width and depth
shall be 8". The soil .dug during trenching may be distribute
'over the subgrade in a manner which establishes a crown
between the drain lines or it may be removed from the site.
A 2 inch layer of gravel is placed in the bottom, of the
trench before the drain lines are put down. Prior to back-
filling, all main and lateral lines should be checked with a
level to insure that the grade or fall provides adequate
drainage.
On colllction of drain line installation,~including
appropriate tees and end caps, the trenches are backfilled
with 1/2" gravel. It is important to avoid displacement
of joint coverings during backfilling. This usually involves
shoveling of gravel on the joint covers, tee, and connections
before backfilling is completed with mechanical equipment:
