Miscellaneous Application
This is follow-up to a letter written to the Planning & Zoning Department
by Ron Sargent dated September 3, 2003. In his letter Ron requested that
the Onweiler Canal remain untiled adjacent to Silhoutte Subdivision and
that a five foot chain link fence be constructed immediately next to the
south bank of the Canal with a ten foot wide paved multi-use pathway
constructed next to that.
On October 6, 2003 Silhoutte LLC received a copy of a letter addressed
to you from Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District. The letter stated that
the "Irrigation District does not allow pathways along open lateral(s)".
A subsequent telephone conversation with District staff opened discussion
of the fencing vs. tiling options. Since the maintenance road for this
portion of the Canal lies on the north side of the Canal, and a chain link
security fence will separate the proposed pathway and the Canal we are
requesting special consideration from the Irrigation District Board of
Directors.
The purpose of this e-mail is to request that City Council continue this
item until we have the chance to meet with the District Board of Directors.
It should be possible to conclude our discussions by November 25, 2003.
