2007
The Community Development Block Grant Public Hearing was called to order at
6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 by City Clerk, Will Berg.
Present: Tammy de Weerd, Bill Nary, Emily Kane, Will Berg and Kay Frances.
Introduction:
Berg: I would like to welcome everyone here tonight and thank you for coming.
This is a notice of a pubic hearing and a public comment period regarding
Meridian’s Community Block Grant Program. I would like to introduce Kay
Frances with the City of Meridian and she will introduce the purpose of this
hearing.
Frances: Thank you. Good evening. The public hearing this evening is to allow
the public to look at the draft plans that we have been preparing over the last
several months. One being an analysis of impediments to fair housing plan;
another one is our consolidated plan for the Community Development Block
Grant application for the city to become an entitlement community; and the third
document is a 2007 annual action plan, which will commence October 1st
, go for
12 months and end in September. We are preparing a five year consolidated
plan so each subsequent year from the 2007 annual action plan, the city will go
forward and prepare one each year. I would like to open it up for comments for
anybody. We have copies for everyone that is here; however, we have no one in
attendance. We will, however, be providing all of the documents for availability to
the general public at City Hall for them to review and also at the main library. We
have been able to put each of the three documents on the city’s website for
reviewing comments and we will be getting a presentation to the City Council on
July 17th
as well and giving them updates on what we received in the way of
comments and suggestions on the plan. We will close our 30 day comment
period the evening of July 27th
. The city’s plan is to go forward on at their City
Council on August 7th
, approve the documents and then they will be forwarded to
HUD for a 45 day review period and we will be receiving our entitlement status
and we can commence activities October 1st
.
Berg: Thank you Kay. Also in attendance from the city is Emily Kane our Deputy
City Attorney. If there are no further comments, I don’t see holding the public
hearing open any longer so we will close the public hearing and the public
meeting and thank everyone for their attendance. The time is 6:15 p.m.
