The developers had built a cinderblock wall that has no aesthetic appeal and is not what was submitted to Meridian City Council. The wall was built 5 feet beyond the Carol subdivision resident's property lines, leaving a 5ft berm of dirt. Furthermore, the dirt has sloped 1 ft beyond the property line into the Tomczak's yard covering sprinklers that are installed. This slope of dirt was left a mess and to be a haven for weeds. This has caused additional work for the homeowners to clean up. The developers were presumptuous to think that the Leslie Way homeowners needed additional land to take care of and landscape. Left in the current condition creates on going expense and maintenance that was not asked for. Additionally, there was a 5ft breach from the homeowners' original fencing to the cinderblock wall that the homeowners had to fix on the North side of our property. The breach is still there on the South side. At the request of the residents previously, we stated a desire for a decorative masonry wall; however, when the wall was put in place it was brought to our attention the wall was to be a split -face block wall. As the wall was being built, the split -face was facing the Bienville Square side, instead of being decorative on both sides. When questioned, the contractors stated this was the way they were told to do it. When I talked to Bob Unger, he stated, that he had no knowledge of what side the split -face was going to be on. Unger stated that the five feet berm placed upon our side was to be landscaped and irrigated. We were given an outline of how the wall was to look from city planning, yet the current wall looks nothing like this (see attached). As the wall is already in place, we have a cheap and effective way to reach compromise by adding a stucco type coating to the current wall. (See attached photos) We would also like to see landscaping perm bark put in place on the additional 5ft, and a landscaping allowance. (See attached proposal from Sterling Landscaping.) Please contact me with any questions you may have concerning this matter. I appreciate your time and quick response to this issue.
