Subject: RE: Comments for Public Hearing
Good morning Terry,
I have met with Lt. Colaianni as well before writing this. From apolice -public safety perspective our main
concern whenever we deaf with these type of addressing issues is a delay in our first responders getting to the
location in an emergency situation. We train police officers that streets run northlsouth or east/west and when we
have a street that turns from one direction to the next and the house numbers then change to correspond with
where it is in relation to the new direction it becomes confusing to the responding officer who also has to
concentrate on information that they are receiving from dispatch both on the radio and through their MDT's.
There are not too many situations like this that still exist in Meridian and if we have an opportunity to make a
street name change it will definitely benefit public safety and help in our emergency response to a call in that
location. The main point is that this is all about high priority emergency response when time is of the most
importance. No one ever wants to hear that we were delayed because we could not locate the house or business
in time, especially if we have the ability to correct it now.
Thank you,
