November 16, 2009 CITY CLERKS OFFICE
TO: Tern Ricks, Addressing Coordinator, Meridian Development Services
FROM: Detective Jim Miller, Meridian Police Department
SUBJECT: Washington Street Addressing Issues
On 10-28-09, I attended a meeting at the Meridian City Hall concerning the proposed street name
changes to sections of Washington Drive and Washington Place.
I live in the 1100 block of W. Washington Drive and I have personally experienced instances
where UPS, Fed Ex, and other delivery people have not been able to locate our address.
The DTG Maps Inc. map book of Ada County that is issued to various members of the police
department already lists my section of West Washington Drive as N.W. 9`h Street.
I am in agreement that changes should be made to avoid potential problems in case of an
emergency.
My only suggestion would be to change the 1100 block of West Washington Drive to N.W. 9th
Street, not N.W. 9th Avenue as proposed. There is already a section of N.W. 9th Avenue that runs
north from W. Pine Avenue. Most of the numbered streets in that area are already titled as
Streets.
