As requested, below is a code analysis ofthe building located at 207 N. Linder, including the
classification of occupancy per the 2006 Intemational Building Code and 2006 International Fire Code,
including requirements for fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
2006 IBC Code Analysis
1. Occupancy Classification is Business Group B for Professional Service {similar to Physician)
(IFC Section 202, IBC Section 304.1).
(IBC Section 308.3 and IFC Section 202 (BJ Group I-2 -does not apply as this section
includes buildings and structures used for medical, surgical, psychiatric, nursing or custodial
care on a 24-hour basis for more than five persons who are not capable of self preservation.
The group includes Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Mental Hospitals, Detox facilities. There are
currently less than S patient rooms, so without getting into the whether it falls under the other
2 criteria (which it does not), we see that this classification does not apply).
2. (IBC Table 803) Allowable Area: Building is Type V B Construction (wood framed, un-
sprinkled).
Allowable area for B occupancy is 9,000 s.f. Building is considerably less than 9000 s.f. and
one story, so OK.
3. (IBC and IFC Section 903) Automatic Sprinkler System -not required for B occupancy.
4. (IBC and IFC Section 907) Fire Alarm and Detection Systems: For a B occupancy, it is only
required with an occupant load over 800 persons (non-applicable) or more than 100 persons
above or below the lowest level of discharge (non-applicable).
