CITY OF MERIDIAN DESIGN MANUAL D.2.5.2 Guidelines D.2.5.2.4 Use colors that complement the use of building materials and support innovative and good design practices. D.2.5.2.4.1 The use of subtle, neutral and natural tones for field materials should complement accent colors and materials. UDC 11-3A-11 OUTDOOR LIGHTING UDC Code 11-3a-11, C. Standards: 1. Fixtures exceeding 260 lumens shall have opaque top to prevent up-lighting 5. Fixtures shall be located as to prevent direct glare into a street and to minimize impact on abutting properties 5.a. Fixtures shall be set to go on when triggered by activity on the property (sensor activated) and go off within five (5) minutes after activation has ceased Lighting on this building is in violation of all three (3) Code requirements: Improper cut-off shield Direct glare on abutting properties Motion detector trigger by traffic on adjoining public street REVIEW STANDARDS Building is subject to the design review standards listed in UDC 11-3A-19, and the City of Meridian Design Manual (Ref: Peter Friedman letter, dated August 13, 2009) UDC 11-3A-19 Structure and Site Design Standards A. The following minimum standards shall apply in addition to the detailed guidelines as set forth in the “City of Meridian Design Manual” REQUESTED ACTION Require the Meridian School District to comply with UDC 11-3A-19, UDC 11-3A-11, and the City of Meridian Design Manual as regards this building SOLUTIONS Luke Cavener and I have suggested several options to the School District: Volunteer labor to paint the building Donation of Paint from Home Depot Paramount developer participation Paramount Subdivision monetary donations The Meridian School District has rejected all suggestions.
