We were told that someone trained in the use of the sprayer would have to apply the herbicide and that we could have an employee of Cherry Lane trained to spray the course. This is understandable and we were working with the City to arrange a time for this training. Then we were surprised to learn that the Mayor had decided that it would be inappropriate. for the. City to lend its Park's equipment for use on the golf course. This decision was communicated to the council a few of weeks ago. We first learned of this decision at the golf course committee. meeting of June 4, 2003. From what we understand, the Council discussed the use of the sprayer and felt that City equipment should not be "loaned". We also understand that the. Council feels there is a need to adopt a policy in connection with the use of City equipment. We appreciate this and would encourage the City to adopt such a policy. As you know, we have been trying to develop a closer working relationship with the City. As the manager of the City's course, we would prefer to work more directly with the City on issues such as this. It may he-that the- City will adopt a policy that allows entities like us to rent equipment from the city. We would certainly be willing to explore this further with the City. Sincerely, J fifer Lovan-Holloway, General .onager Cherry Lane Golf Club
