You may leave a message on our phone with information on how to contact you, if you cannot reach us. If we have failed to include information you feel should be included in the letter, please feel free to make suggestions for strengthening the request. Wes and Darlene Fulwood 3840 Sea Island Ct. Phone: 898-9552 P.S. It is our desire to present this request in good taste and with dignity, but we feel that, as homeowners, our needs and concerns deserve consideration, since actions taken regarding the golf course have a direct bearing on the value and enjoyment of our home setting. If you are in agreement, please help us voice our concerns. Thank you! September, 2007 To: Management of Lakeview Golf Course From:. Appreciative and Concerned Homeowners Re: Driving Range Lake We wank to thank you for the many improvements you have and are making to enhance and improve Meridian's Lakeview Golf Course. Your efforts, we are confident, are paying off by atkracting additional and more satisfied golfers to your site. However, as lakeside and lakeview homeowners, we are concerned with your intentions to drain and leave the lake dry for half the year. We are requesting that you reconsider and allow the beautiful lake to remain filled throughout the year, as was the procedure prior to your management. Reasons for this request include the following: • A prime reason for building or purchasing our homes was the golf course setting. • The beautiful waterfront and lake view, including reflections of our gorgeous sunsets, were additional and rare opportunities for homeowners in Idaho. • We feel that the above amenities have a great influence on our property values, contimled increases and ability to re-sell our homes, should that become desirable. • The aesthetic value and feeling of tranquility of the water-filled lake has been a precious aspect of our location. • Months of a dry lake bed littered with golf balls is unsightly, distasteful and a sharp contrast to the environment we have enjoyed. It certainly is not a compliment to the upscale area in which we reside.or to the site for which the golf course is now named.. There was no suggestion that action such as this might take place when our homes were built or purchased. We would hope that the golf course management would be responsible to those who live in the area by not creating such a drastic change in the aesthetics. We are respectfully, but urgently, n:quesring that you retain the beawty of the lake area throughout all seasons. We are asking that you please be a good neighbor by providing and protecting the beautifiil environment we have enjoyed in the past and feel we have a right to expect by locating where we are. Hopefully, a decision to do so would pay off for you in the Long run Respectfully submitted, Homeowners bordering the golf course lake cc: City of Meridian l~M130'WNB~R PBTI`IION RE: Lakeview Golf Con~rse ~ ~ . ~, the unde~sigu~edho~neown~, s;n in sgnet with ~e reque~ to keep the golf cue lake fiill of wad ao. a yestimwald st~ednley as per agached lei Sire: ~~~._:.: Note: . Talat~re Meridian Idaho 83646 (208) 888-4080 (208) 888-4022 fax October 12, 2007 Dear Wes, You asked me to put in writing the main reasons that the lake will be going dry each fall: The following are some of the main-reasons-some what in order of priority. 1. Many of our golfers support the idea because with a dry lake the geese will leave for the winter. Consequently, in the spring the course is free of goose manure that other local courses contend with that can't get their lakes dry. Not only is the manure unpleasant far golfers but can pose a real ha~,ard to humans exposing them to the risk of Cryptosporidiosis and parasites called Giardia 2. The liability to us and the City of Meridian in case a child were to fall through the ice on a filled lake. We have no way of keeping people off the ice if the lake were to freeze over. 3. The lake is going down earlier than usual this year because of the drought conditions all of us in the valley are experiencing. Our irrigation water ran out the first of September this year as apposed to October last year. Partially because of the drought conditions the water table is going down which in turn hastens the water going into the ground. Pumping water out of the ground to keep the lake full only accentuates this problem. Wes, I agree that our lake is beautiful, but it is not in the. best interest of our customers and our business to try and maintain water in it, if it is even possible. Most golf courses that I know of do not pump water in their lakes in the winter. We appreciate your concerns and hope you understand better the reasons for a dry lake during the winter time. Please feel free to contact me with any fiuther questions. Yo truly, ~ ~ ~~ Dick Davis
