CITY OF MERIDIAN
COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION FOR GROUND WATER QUALITY
IMPROVEMENTS IN MUNICIPAL SUPPLY WELL #23 INCLUDING ASR
PURPOSE
The Hydrogeologist's scope of services, time of completion and compensation shall be as set
forth herein. Services shall generally be described as Hydrogeological Consulting Services per
the Consultant's proposal dated June 5, 2009.
TASK 1.1 -EVALUATE EXISTING WELL CONSTRUCTION AND GEOCHEMISTRY DATA
Per the City's request, Hydrogeologist will compile, synthesize, develop, and present the
geological, geophysical, hydrogeological, geochemical, and as-built details of well construction
for the City's municipal supply Well #23. This evaluation will be aimed at resolving regulatory
restrictions on the use of ground water from Well #23 owing to elevated concentrations of
dissolved uranium in excess of the maximum contaminant level imposed by the 2004 USEPA
Radionuclide Rule.
The Owner will provide access to data.
Hydrogeologist will develop a comprehensive report on the siting, drilling, construction,
development, testing, and sampling of the Well #23. The report will evaluate the drilled geologic
section, sampled geochemistry results, and aquifer test data with an eye toward resolving the
well's uranium contamination problems to allow continued use of the well and the protection of
the City's investment in the facility.
Deliverable products will include two reports. The first report will be a comprehensive
compilation and description of all data available for the Well #23. The second report will be in
the form of a Technical Memorandum aimed directly at the resolution of the water quality
problems in this well. The TM will include a conclusions section, a listing of available options to
improve water quality, and a recommendation for which option to pursue.
Hydrogeologist will work closely with the City's Public Works Department
