We are going to proceed without requesting permission from ITD. This is clarification of a public safety item,
rather that a selecting a new street name.

Hi Terri, good questions.
First, most of our state highways carry different street names than their official SH# (i.e. SH55/Horseshoe Bend
Road). With that being said, I don't think we will need ITD's authorization because we aren't requesting to change
their official name of State Highway 69. But, I'll let Jim weigh in on this because I know he has an answer for us.
And then second, the Board can still act on the application even if it hasn't made it through your public hearing
process yet, but that's not to say they can't table it until afterward if they choose to do so. If you can't make it to
hearing until August, I would suggest indicating your preference for such an action in your comment letter.

The City Clerk's office is getting ready to send out notices for the upcoming public hearing on the Kuna-Meridian Rd. name
change. Bill Nary, our city attorney, was wondering if authorization needs to come from the state since this is a state
highway? Do you have any communication from them regarding this? We're in a bit of a time crunch as far as notices go,
so I'd appreciate your speediest response! Also, what effect, if any, will it have on your public hearing, if ours is delayed
until August?

I appreciate your guidance & suggestions. 1 just emailed my counterpart at Ada County to see what authorization or
communication they've received from the state. Since the county is the entity spearheading this change, 1 would think they
would already have something. Kelly (Ada Co. Development Services) is generally very quick to respond so I'll email you
as soon as I hear from her.

My assumption would be that we would need their approval which may be long in
coming due to the way they do things at the State level. We may still have to do
our process, but we may be premature.
