Nampa, Idaho 83687 Date: 2/10/09 Superior Construction is requesting a change order for installing a new sewer manhole at the intersection of Franklin Rd. & Main St. East of the existing manhole instead of connect<ng to the existing manhole. The reasons are as follows: 1) The existing storm drain pipe shown on both the sewer 8< street plans indicate the pipe ends in the middle of the intersection. Further investigation by ACRD {Dave Longnecker) have revealed that the pipe connects to a drain farther North. The storm drain pipe is RCP and will be exposed approximately ZOIf across the new sewer main thus making the situation extremely dangerous considering the elevations between the two pipes. ACRD has expressed that cutting out the storm drain pipe to lay thru is not in the best interest of anyone. 2) The time restrictions in this busy intersection as well as the opportunities for accessing it are quite limited. A new manhole would be faster 8 eliminate the possibilities of future problems with the storm drain caused by the construction of the new sewer. In conclusion, a new manhole would be the safest, most timely manner ~ cost effective for ACRD in the future.
