Dear Mr. Mayor:
Over the last few months we have received a myriad of complaints
regarding the condition of the Cherry Lane Golf Course and the
manner in which it is being maintained and managed. The most
current report has indicated that the pro is no longer working the
course and has not been for three weeks.
Although unconfirmed, there is no question whatsoever that com-
plaints regarding the condition of the golf course and its manner
of maintenance as reported by people in the Meridian area to this
office are valid.
We have been more than patient with the people presently leasing
the golf course from the City of Meridian considering their lack
of both knowledge and experience in golf course maintenance.
Leavitt NuPacific has a multi-million dollar investment in the
Cherry Lane development and has made every effort to allow these
people ample time and opportunity to perform in a professional
manner. However it is evident that they are not equipped to
handle the operation and maintenance of a golf course and their
continued involvement will only prove more detrimental.
A decline in sales is attributable directly to the disappointment
of prospective buyers with the operation, appearance and mainten-
ance of the golf course and facilities.
Our agreement with the City of Meridian provides for our company
to reclaim the golf course from the city in the event that it is
not operated and maintained in a professional manner.
I have instructed our attorneys that unless new management
acceptable to both the City and Leavitt NuPacific can be re-
tained immediately, it is our intent to effectuate the re-
conveyance of the golf course to Leavitt NuPacific.
