Suite 580 Bellevue, Washington 98004 Tel. 206/455-9696 The Honorable Joseph Glaisyer Mayor of Meridian City of Meridian 728 Meridian Street Meridian, ID 83642 Dear Mayor Glaiser: \~ Enclosed please find copies of some of the recent correspondence received by our office regarding the present problems with the main- tenance and operation of the Cherry Lane Golf Course. I am sending these to you air express in order that you will have a chance to review them prior to the meeting I understand is being held on the Golf Course Monday evening, September 17th. I know you have had conversations with Donald Leavitt regarding some of the complaints and I feel this correspondence will shed more light on that aspect. I have discussed our dissatisfaction with the management of the golf course with Mr. Walley Lovan and explained to him the contents of Donald's letter directed to you of September 10th. It is solely our intent to insure that the golf course becomes an amenity to the city of Meridian, a tribute to the Cherry Lane res- idential community and a positive reflection on Leavitt NuPacific's continuing attempt to create quality in its land development en- deavors. I hope you and the council recognize that our company is committed to satisfying all requirements of the. city in the development process and to meet all of the obligations to which we have committed. At our request Mr. Bob Baldock has been to Boise three times since our last meeting with the council and Mrs. Lovan to respond to the concerns of the council in an advisory capacity for the golf course committee at the expense of NuPacific. At this time the only remaining obligation that has not been satisfied on our part is the replacement of several sprinkler heads which Baldock had contracted with a local agent from Eagle Hills to remedy. I believe you are privy to Baldock's correspondence with Gene Wright in which he stated that the agent met with such poor reception that he refused to do the job. ~ ~ Mayor Joseph Glaisyer September 14, 1979. Page 2 Since that time Gene Wright, at my request, has contacted Bob Baldock and requested that he personally make a special trip to Meridian within the next two weeks to adjust the sprinkler heads. We now find ourselves in an untenable position which, personal- ities aside, requires us to make a business decision to protect our investment, the investment of our clients and our reputation. The present predicament leaves us only two alternatives: to take back the golf course and maintain it and its facilities in a_proper manner; or, to request the city's immediate removal of the present managers and replacement with managers with the financial strength, experience and expertise to run a successful golf course for the community of Deridian. Yours truly, AVITT NuPACIFI leen C. Eggert Vice President CCE/kdp/9257a cc: Tom Leavitt
