Groundwater was encountered at depths ranging from 6.6 to 10.0 feet across the site. This range of groundwater elevations is a result of the general topography of the site. Based on topographic information provided by you, these depths generally correspond to approximate elevations of 2587 feet for the topographically higher portions oi' the site, and an elevation of approximately 2584 feet for the lower, central portion of the site. Soil moistures were generally dry to slightly moist to moist near surface and through the soil profile, and moist to saturated as the water table was approached and penetrated. Groundwater levels in the project area are related primarily to surface irrigation and leakage from nearby canals and drains. Therefore, seasonal high. groundwater levels are likely to occur during the irrigation season, typically from July to September, and will be related to irrigation in the vicinity of the site. Groundwater elevations within test pit I were noted as high as Elev. 2591. However, this elevation maybe because of influence from the adjacent irrigation ditch. Estimation of the extent to which groundwater fluctuates is problematic without long-term monitoring. However, a preliminary estimate of seasonal high groundwater of approximately Elev. 2586 should be anticipated, based on groundwater elevations noted in the lower, central portion of the site.
