Dear Mayor and Council Members, We are honored and privileged to be in ministry in such a caring and wonderful community as Meridian is. It truly is a great place to live, work, and raise a family! The leadership of our young congregation was recently discussing how we might better serve the needs of Meridian's residents and the idea came up of utilizing some of our 5 or so acres (mostly undeveloped) to offer a community garden so that people could grow their own food in these tough economic times. We don't have much in the way of farm equipment, but we do have underutilized open land, water rights, and a desire to be a blessing to the citizens of Meridian. We have been advised to send a letter to the Council in conjunction with the annexation proceedings to request permission to utilize the land in this way. We understand that Elroy Huff may be available to help us develop our plan in greater detail and we would welcome his help. Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter. We want to do whatever we can to serve and help the people who call Meridian their home. We hope that a community garden might serve that greater purpose. Sincerely, Vie!>~. David L.
