My 5 year old niece, Amaya Rose started swimming with Shannon when she was jest a 2 year old tadpoles She has evolved into a confident swimmer who Ioves the water and respects it also. She is very proud of the trophy on her dresser that she earned by jumping into the pool fully-clothed, rolling onto her back, calling for help, swimming to the side & pulling herself out all by herself. Shannon's swimmers' success is thanks to the quality of her techniques, not to mention the lave & support she so naturally showers her lucky stadents with. I'm excited to think of all the people Shannon would have the opportunity to teach and empower in such a state of the art aquatic tauter sled I .hope you all support her passionate proposal. She is such a positive inauence in the lives of the people she teaches. With Warmest Regards, Lisa McKinney-Mai 2054 E. The lessons I received are the best I have ever had which greatly improved my competitive edge in triathlons and other swimming events. I would like to continue my ADULT swim training with FLOW Aquatics and know that the training provided to the public is unmatched by any other facility. I believe that a new Premier Aquatics Center would be a great asset to the community and would like to see it succeed. It would be a place to provide specialized excellent training for children and adults in the community. I strongly recommend public and civic support and hope it is successful. I am very excited about the possibility of this new swim center in Meridian. The swim classes that Shannon from FLOW Aquatics provides are amazing. They have greatly helped my friends and me to improve our swimming. Not only can I swim faster now but I am able to do so with less effort. I think this swim center will be a great asset to the City of Meridian. Not only will it provide many people the opportunity to improve their swimming but will also let us do so locally without having to drive to downtown Boise. This is exactly what Meridian needs. My wife and I have been active participants in Meridian's downtown corridor ;~ planning and are very supportive of the path the city has taken. The new city office building, attracting } `'`~~ businesses downtown and encouraging a pedestrian friendly Meridian are all important to us and our young family. The proposed Flow Aquatics facility would add a much needed and important resource to the city of Meridian. My 3 year old son has been enrolled in Flow Aquatics swimming lessons for just a few months ~? ~~ ~ but has learned so much while having fun and learning to be safe and confident in and around water. It is ~~ important to us that our children learn to be safe and competent swimmers. Our backyard has an -' ~ ? ~ ' irrigation ditch running through it and while we have installed safeguards, things can happen and I believe ~ it is important that all children, especially in this valley know to ask permission before going into the water and know how to swim if an accident was to occur. These are things that my son has already been taught with the Flow Aquatics program. In addition, as a U.5. Masters Swimmer myself, I constantly hear of adults that wish they knew to swim or would like to be better. There are also those who receive a great benefit from the physical therapy aspect of exercising in the water. These are all things that this .~ facility would offer. There is nothing else like this in the valley and it would be a great benefit to the city of Meridian and its community. r`~- I also applaud the `green' vision of the pools and building. As I understand it, this would be more energy efficient and high tech than any other aquatic building in the nation. In our current economic situation and state of energy use, a project like this can only mean good things for the environment and the local :~ economy. ; 'o As a whole, this aquatic building and the Flow Aquatics program would bring a unique and valuable resource to the city of Meridian. As a lifelong swimmer, this is the first program I have seen of its kind and is quite unusual for a city of this size. I believe this program will bring young and old alike from all ~', around the valley for what it has to offer and will be a model for those to follow. I plan to have my son ~' and later my daughter and I enrolled in Flow Aquatics swimming lessons for many years and fully " ~"` support their program. They operate a customer service based, friendly and efficient business while teaching potentially lifesaving skills that I believe will only increase the quality of life for the citizens of Meridian. ., :~ Thank you, '~+ . ~~ ~:: ~~ ~ Kevin Warner ~,~ ;t . . ~. ,~ . ., . . «~; -_ ~ , , ~. ~: ~; _.:~ . `;~_ :~-, ':<, ~?a .,, ~~ . r ,~; T _:.,.: ~k ,,~ ~; -.~ ~, , ;1~;, ,, .-, ~. ~.~a ;;~.~: ~.~, ' f ~~.it, ', ' . r ,:: ~'4, ni-" .~ .. ~.,~ ~'~ a 1~ ""~~ 5 4 b! - I, ~ ~: ~_ 4 ~, ~~~ Div 1 ~EC~~vE~ ~~ 1 y 2009 To Whom it May Concern, CITY OFG~f CITY CLERKS ®FFICE We have attending swimming lesson with Flow Aquatics for the last 5 years. Our experience has always been positive and the program has exceed our expectations. My children's comfort level in the pool has soared and she makes learning fun! They look forward to their lessons and have gained self confidence in the pool. The water safety instruction is priceless. She teaches the kids while they are having fun and with encouragement. I am so grateful that a friend referred me to her. I would follow her to any location she were to open. Not to mention what an honor it would be to be a part of such an unique facility that uses as much recycled and 'green' ideas that it can. In this day and age I respect that type of responsibility and admire her for the courage to move forward in such thoughtful and honorable ways. Knowing her as I have I am not surprised. Shannon is wonderful and the people she has brought in to work with her have been too! Autumn Wind Dr. Nampa, Idaho 83687 Meridian Planning and Zoning Department: ~ECEI~"E FEB 19 209 CITY OFG~fB CITY CLERKS OFFICE Our children have been participating in the FLOW Aquatics program for the past 3 years. They have thoroughly enjoyed being apart of this program while learning very important aquatic safety skills. Our family spends a lot of time on the water in the summer. The skills and knowledge that our children have gained have made them more confident and comfortable in the water. We are amazed at how much our children have learned from this program. This program has equipped our children with the knowledge and skills necessary to be safe in and around water. We have also received many compliments and comments from other parents on how comfortable our children are in the water. This comfort level is a direct result of the training they have received from FLOW Aquatics. They have also had the opportunity to learn many social skills during their interactions with the instructors and other students. FLOW Aquatics provides a safe environment that enables children to learn, grow and retain the aquatic skills they have acquired. FLOW Aquatics is a local family owned, local family run business. They understand local values and the importance of healthy families, and the impact these families have in a successful community like Meridian. The expansion and approval of their new facility is vital for the growth of aquatic safety and awareness. It also puts Meridian (aka-The Center of the Treasure Valley) at the forefront of Aquatic training and advancement. This location would have a positive impact and would help fill a need in our growing valley. Families come from all around the valley for nightly, bi-weekly, and weekly aquatic classes. Even though it is a small impact, these families do have an economic impact on the Meridian when visiting. We fill up our gas tanks, visit restaurants, visit retail and grocery stores, all while in Meridian. Because FLOW Aquatics has been so successful, they have clearly outgrown themselves. FLOW Aquatics needs a larger facility to accommodate and service its increasingly popular classes. We are writing in support of re-zoning the property for the proposed new site. This new state of the art facility will add value and fill a great need in our valley. We ask that you consider our input when making your decision and appreciate the opportunity.
