REQUIREMENTS: VARIANCE
Attach a site plan showing all details of the proposed
development, Complete the following questions and return
with the application.
1. What is intended to be done on or with the property? Personal Residence
carport for personal automobile and storage for lawn equipment & funiture-.
2. What special conditions and circumstances exist which
are peculiar to the land, structure, or building involved and
which are not applicable to other lands. structures, or buildings
in the same district? House constructed with driveway on north side property line
beside next door neighbors driveway; their garage was constructed at the same time
their house was built with driveway & garage on their south side property line.
Our driveways join together.
3. Why will a literal interpretation of the provisions of
this ordinance deprive you of rights commonly enjoyed by other
. properties in the same district under the terms of this ordinance?
As mentioned above, our neighbor's end my home were originally built with the intent
to have our garages or carports on our property lines. Theirs was built twenty some
years ago when their house was originally built.
4. What special conditions or circumstances exist that were
not a result of your actlOnS? present zoning ordances were not applicable when
home was built.

any special privilege that is denied by this Ordinance to other
lands, structures, or building in the same district? I will only have the privilege

Regular meeting of the Meridian City Council called to order by Mayor Joseph Glaisyer
at 7:30 p.m.
Council Members Present: Grant Kingsford; Ron Tolsma; Rick Orton; Bill Brewer;
Others Present: Earl Ward; Larry Hellhake; Doug Nichols; R.C. Spencer; Vern Schoen;

Minutes of the previous meeting held August 15, 1983 were approved as written.

1 PUBLIC HEARING: Variance request by Betty McGoldrick
Mayor Glaisyer: I will now open the Public Hearing regarding the variance request
by Betty McGoldrick allowing construction of a carport with storage area on the
North property lot line. Is there anyone present that wishes to comment either
pro or con on this variance proposal?"
There was no response.
Glaisyer: "I will now close the Public Hearing."
Glaisyer: "Council Members you have the proposal before you, are there any
questions of Betty (McGoldrick)?"
Kingsford: "The carport you are talking about is basically going to go the same
distance to your property line as the garage is on that property line - is that
right?"
McGoldrick: "Right." ~ ~`
Kingsford: "And that neighbor has no problem?"
McGoldrick: "No, they signed."
There were no other comments from the Department Heads or from the Council.
The Motion was made by Kingsford and seconded by Tolsma to approve of the granting
to Betty McGoldrick, a variance allowing construction of a carport with storage area
on the North property line.
Motion Carried: Kingsford, yea; Tolsma,yea; Orton, yea; Brewer, yea;
