Welcome to the first comprehensive strategic plan ever completed by the
City of Meridian. We are proud to introduce it to you and believe it will
provide clear insight regarding the major challenges facing the City, as well
as the goals, objectives, major initiatives, and anticipated actions established
by each City department. To our knowledge, this is one of the most
thorough strategic plans ever completed by a city in Idaho, and we are proud
of the leadership demonstrated by all elected officials, department directors,
and employees.
Never before in its history has the City faced so many challenges and
opportunities. As this new decade unfolds, City government has entered a
new phase of its development—one that is based on technical innovation,
broader community partnerships, and an even deeper commitment to public
service.
The trends in America are clear. The velocity of change will continue to
stress resources at a time when state and federal governments are asking for
more local involvement and as assumption of even more fiscal
responsibility. However, as these trends evolve, one thing is certain – the
City of Meridian will remain a leader in not only providing quality services,
but also in planning for the best possible future for its citizens.
We encourage you to take time to read this plan. Public review can only
make the City stronger as it anticipates the challenges and opportunities
ahead.
