Cox, City Clerk 729 Meridian Street Meridian, Idaho 83642 Interceptor Sewer Capacity - Adjacent to Crestwood Subdivision Dear Mr. Cox: We have reviewed the capacity of the proposed interceptor sewer which will be serving the area Southwest of Meridian including The Crestwood Subdivision and respectfully submit the following report. The cities concern, as we understand your inquiry, is that the developers of Crestwood Subdivision have changed their original plans from single family detached homes to grouped multiple family dwellings. The gross average density of their new plan is estimated to be ten (10) dwelling units per acre over an area of approximately one hundred acres. You also asked that we review the proposed interceptor sewer regarding it's ability to handle the additional sewage flow as other development occurs. As you are aware the proposed interceptor Line along Ten Mile Plain to the South of Crestwood Subdivision is to be 15 inches in diameter. That sewer will be laid on grades varying from 0.22% (the minimum allowable slope) to approximately 0.50%. At the minimum design slope, a 1.5 inch sewer line can transport flows of approximately two (2.0) million gallons per day. The flow expected from Crestwood at the higher densities is approximately 380,000 gallons per day with short term peak flows of greater magnitude. The other large customer expected to use that interceptor is the proposed Treasure Valley Shopping Mall. We estimate they will contribute from 100,000 to 200,000 gallons of sewage flow per day in the proposed interceptor. With both of these major contributors fully developed we estimate that approximately 25% of the interceptors sewers design sewer flow capacity will be used. Therefore, we conclude that the increased densities requested by the Crestwood Subdivision developers will not overload the proposed 15 inch interceptor sewer. ..1 J—U—® ENGINEERS, INC. 212 10th Ave. So. - Nampa, Idaho 83651 Mr. Harold J. Supervisor of Environmental Health cc: Larry Sales Hoffman April 11, 1973 Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission City Hall Meridian, Idaho Dear Sirs: Crestwood, Inc. has received preliminary approval to develop a one -acre subdivisionproperty generally located at the Southeast corner of Linder and nRoads. We believe we have arrived at a plan which would afford us the opportunity of developing a three -unit -per -acre subdivision rather than the one acre subdivision. However, we need a response from the City of Meridian as to their concurrence with our plan. We propose to initially develop approximately 25 acres. This development would be served with dry sewer lines and a central water system. The water system would connect with the City system at Franklin and Meridian Roads. We would bring a 6 inch main, line west down Franklin Road to our property in order to service our development. Because of the costs and inadequate studies involved, we are unable to furnish a main sewer line along Franklin Road. Consequently, we would furnish dry sewer lines within our entire development which would be able to connect with the main sewer line when it is developed. Our property is so located that the County and City planning and zoning commissions along with us feel it to be best suited as a conventional subdivision rather than a one acre subdivision. Therefore, we solicit your aid and encouragement to help attain our goal and approve this proposal. RDG:jc Very truly yours,// r Robert D. Gla' yer CREST WOOD INC.
