Dear Planners:
The Meridian School District has experienced phenomenal student growth the
last ten years. The high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools
throughout the district are operating over capacity. Residents may not be
assured of attending the neighborhood school.
Approval of the Voltera Mixed Use Subdivision will have an impact on school
enrollments at Ponderosa Elementary School, Sawtooth Middle School and
Rocky Mountain High School. We can predict that these homes, when
completed, will house fifteen (15) elementary aged students, fourteen (14)
middle school aged students, and eleven (11) senior high aged students.
School capacity is addressed in Idaho Code 67-6508. The Meridian School
District is currently operating beyond capacity. Future-devefopment will confinue
to have an impact on the district's capacity. If you have any questions, please
contact me at 350-5024.
Sincerely,
Bruce Gestrin
Assistant Superintendent
