Medical detoxification is not a solution to alcohol or drug dependency. For those in need ofinedica/ detoxification,
those who will suffersevere and perhaps life-threatening withdrawal symptoms, Redmont can arrange outpatient
detoxification with an appropriate physician, but if inpatient detox is required, Redmont will refer the client to an
appropriate facility until the client is physically ready to enter Redmont.

Meridian P8Z
Mr. Parsons:
I would like to appeal the decision made by the Meridian P8Z Commission on July 17th regarding the Redmont
Health Services facility. AZ-08-008 and CUP-08-015. I believe the approval of this facility violates the R zoning
rules for Meridian.
An out-patient care facility is prohibited in a R-zone according to zoning laws and the report given by Meridian
Staff at the July 17th hearing. The P8Z Commission used some °creative" definitions to allow Redmont to win
approval for their project. In
the brochure published by Redmont they describe their facility as an OUT-PATIENT facility. On page four their
brochure states; °Combining an intensive residential program and a careful OUT-PATIENT program with an
ongoing 12-step program results in a favorable recovery program."
In their standard treatment plan on page five it states:
1. 30 days residential care followed by
2. 60 days intensive OUT-PATIENT care (14-16 hours a week) followed by
3. 90 days OUT-PATIENT care (2-4 hours a week) followed by more out-patient care.
It is very obvious that this is a facility that will be an out-patient business which isn't allowed in an R-8 zone.
Therefore I believe the Meridian City Council should over-rule the P8Z Commission and not allow this facility to
operate in an R-8 zone.
Thank you,
Don Clower
