The Meridian School District has experienced phenomenal student growth the
last ten years. The high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools
throughout the district are operating over capacity.
Approval of the Volterra Subdivision will have an impact on school enrollments at
Ponderosa Elementary School, Sawtooth Middle School and Rocky Mountain
High School.
We can predict that these homes, when completed, will house fifteen (15)
elementary aged students, fourteen (14) middle school aged students, and
eleven (11) senior high aged students. Residents may not be assured of
attending the neighborhood school, as it may be necessary to bus students to
other schools across the district.
School capacity is addressed in Idaho Code 67-6508. The Meridian School
District is currently operating beyond capacity. Future development will continue
to have an impact on the district's capacity. If you have any questions, please
contact me at 350-5016.
Sincerely,
Wendel Bigham
