TENTATIVE 97/98 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET: (APPROVED] MERIDIAN CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 18. 1997 The special meeting of the Meridian City Council was called to order by Mayor Robert. D. Cowie at 5:30 P.M. MEMBERS PRESENT: Ron Tolsma, Charlie Rountree, Glenn Bentley, Walt Morrow: OTHERS PRESENT: Will Berg, Wayne Crookston, Bill Gordon, Kenny Bowers: Corrie: I will open the special meeting. Before we go too far into this I do want to make a comment to you for your consideration later this evening before we do approve the tentative budget on the Mayor's secretary. After we got through with what you stated that they were going to appropriate $17,500 for that. I put a pencil to it and that is $30 less a month than she would get if she stayed a secretary and not in the Mayor's office. So I think that we need to revisit that one. I don't think it is quite right to penalize that for coming over to the Mayor's office so you can think about that one. ITEM #1: AMENDMENT TO 96/97 FY BUDGET: Morrow. Mr. Mayor, I would move to approve the amended budget Tolsma: Second Come: Motion is made by Mr. Morrow, second by Mr. Tolsma to approve the amendment to the 96/97 fiscal year budget, discussion? Rountree: Just for Garification would you state the amended budget amount for 96/97? Morrow. 96/97 fiscal year. Cowie: Any further discussion? That is the Sanitary Service Contract to $1,308,000 proposed revenues and proposed expenditures for the fiscal year 96/97. Hearing no further comment, all those in favor? Opposed? MOTION CARRIED: All Yea ITEM #2: TENTATIVE 97/98 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET Corrie: I think the dollars gentlemen on my request tonight the dollars will stay the same. As you know we can't increase, we can just tweak them before the meeting there and if we want to have discussion we can do that. I think that we need to address that however and as you welt know the dollars are not going to be changed up or down it will be just tweaking in the department. I think Mr. Mayor if I may if you will recall we are meeting in Executive Session to discuss those issues tomorrow night and that can certainly be a topic of that Executive Session.
