This is to follow up on your conversations with the Meridian Planning Department and the Mayor's '
Office regarding the shared boundary with the Tuscany Village Subdivision. Apparently, chere has been
some confusion regarding tlie rights and responsibilities of the parties involved and th'ss letter is intended
to clarify the situation.
Since your property is located in unincorpocated Ada County, the regulations governing the rype of
fencing allowed to contain livestock are contained in ihe Ada County Z~ning Ordinance. Based on the
information provided regarding your properry, it is my understanding that either electric or barbed wire
fencing is allowed and necessary to prevent your livestock from wandering onto neighboring praperties.
The area of the Tuscany Village pathway is owned and maintained by that development's homeowner's
association. A review of the condiiions of approval indicates that fencing the pathway was not reyuired,
After your cail to onr office in early June, we contacted representatives for the T'uscan Village
Hameowner's Association and sought their assistance in this matter. Specifica!'ly, tltey were going to
notify the association members that your fence is private property and as such, reyuest that it he
respected. Since we have not been informed that this has occurred we will contact them again t~ seek
their cooperation.
As in many of these situations, the City €s put in the position of trying to resolve a civil matter between
private property owners. Wliile we attempt to seek "common ground'' itt these sitt~ations, we liave to trust
that open communication and good faith between the parties will lead to a resolution.
