I wish to express my opposition to the approval of a Maverick Gas station at the intersection of Locust Grove & McMillan. I am a resident in the Vienna Woods subdivision. I shop at Maverick for gas as much as possible, but I don't think that location would be in the neighborhood's best interest. My first concern is with the store being open 24 hours a day, the possibility of crime extending into Vienna Woods would increase. We moved into this part of Meridian to avoid such an atmosphere. Second, this section of Meridian is residential in nature. By adding the Maverick station, I feel property values will be reduced slightly. We are just minutes away from Albertsons, Fred Meyer, and Stinker, all which provide the services this station would aim to do. These locations are established in areas that are zoned for business already. Could this station not be built on Eagle Rd. or Chinden Blvd., roads designed for higher traffic flows? These two roads are also more oriented for business locations. Finally, the addition of the traffic to the intersection of Locust Grove and McMillan would increase. This intersection is already overloaded during high volume times since it is one lane in each direction and does not have a stop light or turning lanes. Thank you for taking the time to hear my concerns. Sincerely, Dr. ]ohn R.. Knowles III, D.C. 6/30/2008
