The home built on lot 4 block 15 Fulfer sub #5 was built by Russell Dunstan, he was given a plat map that showed the lot was 76' wide. It was after the home was complete, and sold, that it was discovered the lot was 74'. The home was drawn with the 76' measurement, and submitted for building permit. The building permit was issued, and the house was laid out on the lot with a 76' measurement. As it turns out the lot to the South in Fulfer #7 is 76' contributing to the confusion. These pins were used to set up the foundation. The builder, foundation contractor, and the Meridian building inspector did not catch this mistake at this time. The home was framed and went through frame inspections, still not caught. The home was completed, issued a certificate of occupancy by the city of Meridan, and sold to John and Sandra Calpin. This home was built in good faith, within all building codes, and inspected by Meridain City inspectors as required. The home sets two foot into the five foot setback on the east property line. The Calpins and their neighbors on each side are aware of this situation and feel the best way remedy this situation is to grant a conditional use permit modification.
