GOLF <LUB,
MERIDIAN
Director of Golf
Mike Thornton: "The
first hole at Lakeview
is not our most diffi-
cult hole but produces
some high scores
because of the trouble
and that most players
are not settled into
there round. The par 4
ranges from 330 yards
to 370 yards in dis-
tance. Out of bounds
runs all the way down
the left side and water
down the right and in
front of the green. The
approach shot is cov-
ered by two large
green side bunkers
with out of bounds
left, behind and right
of the green.

Head. Golf Pro
Michael Kastner.
"The 17th is a reach-
able par 4 that forces
you to make a choice
right off the tee. A
conservative mindset
allows you to use our
signature 1930s wind-
mill as the perfect tar-
get to the center of the
fairway. A short play to
the elevated and undu-
lating green is the path
to a birdie putt.
Should you try to
reach this green from
the tee, your route
forces a long carry over
a tree -lined creek that
juts in from the right.
Long and left also
deposits you into a
creek. Out -of -bound
right and a bunker
fronting the green are
additional problems to
consider, making accu-
racy a must if you chal-
lenge this scenic hole."

WORLEY
Interim Director
of Golf Steve Caruso:
"We don't have a sin-
gle hole that stands
out as signature, but at
least four holes that
could be considered as
such. Our most pho-
tographed hole, and
easily recognized as
our marquee, is #8.
This hole is named
"mghwgin" in the
Coeur d'Alene native
language meaning
"snow on the moun-
tain." The magnifi-
cence of this particular
hole represents
Circling Raven well
for its startling natural
beauty, balance, and
spaciousness. This is a
relatively short hole,
but one that must be
played wisely for the
best result. The gener-
ally left-to-right slop-
ing fairway will tend
to push balls right.
Play the tee shot down
the left side of the fair-
way for the best
approach to the green,
which is guarded by a
bunker front right.

BOISE
PGA Director of
Golf T.J. Gomez: "We
have a hole that every-
body seems to have a
special relationship
with — #2. It is a
short hole, measuring
less than 300 yards
from the back tees,
which isn't very long
for a par 4. However,
it provides a tremen-
dous amount of
treachery in that the
tee shot and the sec-
ond shot both require
a tremendous amount
of precision and accu-
racy. A creek runs in
front of the green,
providing for a little
extra excitement on
the hole, especially
during spring runoff.
Even though the shots
are short, if they are
not played accurately,
a big number is sure
to wait.
