HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter from Joni NealRECE1v~~ MAR - 41008 City of Meridian City Clerk Office Meridian City 33 East Idaho Ave Meridian, ID 83642 Date 3/4/08 To whom it may concern, This letter is to state that I am against the rezoning of the Strada Bellissima Commercial property (rezoning hearing RZ 07-013). An a agreement was made when we purchased our lot. We had to keep our house and property in compliance with the CC & R's of the subdivision and the developer was to improve the areas that were undeveloped, and stay true to his claim of the commercial building area being zoned L-O. I feel this agreement has been broken by Strada Bellissima Commercial. There is a children's park less than 150 feet from where the proposed C-N zoned lots are located. This park represents an area that children should feel safe to play, and be able to go to and from without danger. I feel that this area would now be considered dangerous for small children due to the increased traffic in that area. I find the advertising of these lots as C-N zoning before they have been rezoned is deceptive and not a moral practice of business. Such as selling homesites next to lots that are zoned L-O, then trying to rezone them to C-N. This is a perfect example of the deceptive practices of Strada Bellissima Commercial. I have also noticed their website that has incriminating information on how the subdivision was marketed has been conveniently taken down. These rezoning hearing is the 2nd time Strada Bellissima Commercial has tried to rezone this area in recent months. I feel they do not care about the community's opinion, and are just trying to wear the community down in order to get their way. This rezone also effects our property value because higher traffic areas are less desirable. If these areas were zoned C-N when we were originally looking for a lot it would have had an effect on our decision. Also I feel the market price for our lot would due to the proximity to a higher traffic business area. I find it a shady business practice to switch the zoning after people have bought homes. I cannot "return" my lot for a refund if I'm unhappy with the businesses that may come with C-N zoning. I have had a house built and I planned to stay in this community for a while, so this has a long term monetary effect on my family. There are areas less than a mile away that have C-N zoning, and these areas are currently vacant. I don't see the need for more C-N zoned lots where Strada Bellissima Commercial wants to put them. Please deny this rezoning request as the community is against it. Sincerely yours, Joni eal 338 W Galvani Dr Meridian, ID 83642
